Off-duty Calif. Officer Killed in Motorcycle Crash

An off-duty police officer was killed in an accident on a freeway in Southern California on Thursday morning.

An off-duty police officer was killed in an accident on a freeway in Corona, Calif., on Thursday morning, reports KABC-TV.

The incident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. Authorities say the officer was traveling on his personal motorcycle in the carpool lane, and at some point he collided with another vehicle. His body was thrown over the center divider into the path of a car traveling eastbound.

The officer was identified as 30-year-old Shaun Jarvis, an eight-year veteran of the San Bernardino (Calif.) Police Department.
