Miss. Dep. Killed in One-Car Crash

A deputy with the Union County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Department died Wednesday night as the result of a one-car accident.

A deputy with the Union County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Department died Wednesday night as the result of a one-car accident, the New Albany Gazette reports.

Deputy Clinton H. Frazier was pronounced dead on the scene by the Union County coroner.

According to Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards, the crash occurred about 9 p.m. on U.S. Highway 178, inside the Myrtle town limits.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the New Albany Police Department were investigating the crash that killed Clinton H. Frazier, who joined the department in 2012. The crash occurred about 9 p.m. on U.S. Highway 178, inside the Myrtle town limits.

As a result of the investigation, Crystil M. Byers, 27, of 1286 Highway 178 West, Lot 175 has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a fatality and culpable negligent manslaughter.
