1 Dead in Purdue University Shooting, Suspect in Custody

A male suspect was taken into custody after police said he went into the Electrical Engineering Building and shot a male he was targeting.

Purdue Police Chief John Cox has confirmed one person is dead after a shooting on Purdue's campus Tuesday afternoon.

A male suspect was taken into custody after police said he went into the Electrical Engineering Building and shot a male he was targeting.

Students tell News 18 they heard "three loud bangs" and heard "people screaming." They said when police arrived, one officer pulled the fire alarm and told students to evacuate the building.

Chief Cox said they have the shooter in custody at Purdue University Police headquarters. During a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Cox said the shooter was not being cooperative.

No names have been released.
