2 Detectives Shot in Phoenix; 1 Suspect Dead

Two Phoenix police fugitive-apprehension officers were shot and another man was killed Monday afternoon during a pursuit in Phoenix, authorities say.

Phoenix Police Assistant Chief Sandra Renteria said both detectives were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition following the 3:30 p.m. incident, reports azcentral.com.

Across town, the body of the suspect was lying in a parking lot outside a car title buisness near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road. An official confirmed the man was shot and killed in a confrontation with officers.

According to witness accounts, a collision between a white car and a truck near the intersection was related to the officer-involved shooting. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and remained in the roadway.
