A Phoenix police detective wounded in a fierce shootout with a fugitive earlier this week has been released from the hospital.

A Phoenix police detective wounded in a fierce shootout with a fugitive earlier this week has been released from the hospital.

Det. Albert “A.J.” Casados, 37, was shot through the torso on Monday after cornering William Ray Thornton, a suspect in an attempted-homicide case. Casados’ colleague, Det. John Hobbs, died after the shootout with Thornton near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reports.
