A Kent (Wash.) Police dog has been released from the hospital and is recovering after he was stabbed by a domestic-violence suspect Tuesday night.

Kato, a German shepherd, needed 50 stitches following the stabbing. Kato had tracked a suspect at 7 p.m. The man stabbed Kato in the shoulder with a pocket knife.

Police arrested the suspect, reports the Seattle Times.
