Officers with the LAPD arrived at suspected LAX shooter Paul Anthony Ciancia's apartment minutes after he left for the airport Friday morning, reports the LA Times.

Authorities went to check on the 23-year-old because his family alerted authorities they had received text messages that day that sounded suicidal.

Ciancia is being tightly guarded while in the hospital where he is listed in critical condition. He is currently being charged with the death of TSA screener Gerardo Hernandez, 39, the first employee of the Transportation Security Administration to be killed in the line of duty.
