Chicago Officer Dragged, Thrown from Vehicle

A Chicago police officer was hurt on the South Side Monday night when a motorist she pulled over for a traffic violation grabbed her by her bulletproof vest, sped off, and flung her from the vehicle, authorities said.

When she approached the vehicle, the driver grabbed her vest and drove off, authorities said. As the vehicle sped away, the officer was thrown from it and tumbled to the ground.

The vehicle crashed moments later and the driver was arrested. The officer was taken to the hospital and was up and talking Monday night, the Chicago Tribune reports.
