Officials at Solano Community College are negotiating with the Solano County Sheriff's Office to have its officers replace campus police.

Officials at Solano Community College are negotiating with the Solano County Sheriff's Office to have its officers replace campus police.

There are currently only five part-time officers at SCC that can only monitor the campus until 6 p.m., the Times Hearld reports.

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s department, which has more resources than the college, provides some limited coverage on campus, with SCC officials hoping that the department can provide more full-time patrol services on July 1.

The board of trustees will discuss the matter in June. If approved, the department would assign armed and trained, but not sworn officers to monitor SCC.
