A Chula Vista (Calif.) Police motor officer was seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash Wednesday likely caused by an inattentive teenage driver who was sending text messaging.

Officer Nathaniel Walker, an eight-year veteran, was injured when the 17-year-old girl struck a Chevy HRR with her Ford Fusion on state Route 78. The Chevy was stopped in the left-turn lane and pushed into the intersection when rear-ended by the Fusion. The Chevy struck Officer Walker's motorcycle, sending him into the Fusion's windshield.

Officer Walker, 33, is expected to fully recover, reports U-T San Diego.
