The Athens-Clarke County (Ga.) Police Department plans to deploy at least four hybrid vehicles—Toyota Priuses and Ford Fusions—as marked patrol cars for an estimated fuel cost savings of $2,500 per car per year, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

The PD had been using hybrid vehicles as administrative vehicle and for detectives. It just recently assigned a Prius to a patrol supervisor, who has not reported any problems.
