Fla. Deputy Reprimanded for Trayvon Martin Props

A veteran Brevard County (Fla.) Sheriff's deputy has received a written reprimand for a misguided attempt to teach other deputies about the importance of keeping professional and personal opinions separate.

Following a jury's acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, Cpl. Chris Wood brought a bag of Skittles and Arizona ice tea to the county jail. Wood then lectured his fellow deputies.

"His delivery of that message was completely insensitive to not only the people in the room, and the things that were going on in our community, and our society, at that point, and that's what stimulated us looking at it," Sheriff Wayne Ivey told WFTV.
