Nev. Officer Dies In Fall During Copter Rescue

At some point during the helicopter-assisted rescue, Officer David Vanbuskirk fell to his death. The officers were using the helicopter to hoist the hiker to safety from an area that was too difficult to reach by foot.

At some point during the helicopter-assisted rescue, Officer David Vanbuskirk fell to his death. The officers were using the helicopter to hoist the hiker to safety from an area that was too difficult to reach by foot.

Vanbuskirk, 36, was a member of the department's Search and Rescue Unit. He had served the agency since 1999, reports the Las Vegas Sun.
