New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has vetoed a pair of measures to create an NYPD inspector general and allow people to sue over racial profiling by officers.

Bloomberg said the measures, which seem likely to pass on a City Council veto override, would help criminals and terrorists, reports the New York Daily News.

His veto message called each measure "a dangerous and irresponsible bill that would make New Yorkers less safe."
