The Coopertown (Tenn.) Police chief has begun using polygraph testing on recruits to keep racists off a force he was hired to rebuild after numerous police scandals.

Chief Shane Sullivan, who became the agency's 11th chief in as many years in November, said the polygraph will "definitely keep these people from applying," reports CBS News.

A lie-detector expert said a polygraph test may not detect a racist because the person doesn't believe they're a racist.
