Fortville police officer Matt Fox admitted today to "maybe a little bit of nerves" in returning to regular patrol six months after getting shot and wounded in the line of duty.
"But not too much," he added. "I'm treating it like every other day prior to the shooting."
He spoke while driving his 2010 Dodge Charger police cruiser around the streets of Fortville shortly after 6 a.m. today—his second day back to full-time duties. His drug-sniffing yellow lab, Lannie, lay quietly in the back of his car.
His return to patrol comes after months of surgeries, physical therapy, speech therapy and overall recuperation since he was shot this summer. Fox, 30, returned to part-time desk work earlier in the fall.
