A California Highway Patrol officer remained in critical condition Wednesday, a day after he was shot by a subject during a traffic stop in the East Bay near Alamo.
Officer Kenyon Youngstrom pulled over Christopher Boone Lacy, 38, on Interstate Highway 680 at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Lacy was driving a green Jeep Wrangler with an obstructed license plate. The officer's partner pulled up as the officer and the Jeep came to a stop.
According to Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee, Lacy shot the officer in the head and the officer's partner returned fire, mortally wounding Lacy who died later, reports ABC News.
