A Houston Police officer faces five years to life if convicted of kidnapping, handcuffing, and raping a cantina waitress in a trial that began Tuesday.

A Harris County grand jury indicted Abraham Joseph, 28, for the Jan. 2 rape on Jan. 20. Joseph was relieved of his duties when the woman accused the officer of the attack.

The plaintiff, who is an undocumented immigrant, is expected to testify Wednesday, reports the Houston Chronicle.
