Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger provided a K-9 training grant to the Denver Sheriff Department on behalf of the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at the Giving Back Fund.

The grant will help the department purchase a police dog trained in explosives detection and the necessary training and certification for the handler. The department's existing K-9 was used to sweep the theaters after the Aurora shooting.

During the 2012-13 NFL season, the foundation will be distributing grants to K-9 units of police and fire departments in the cities and surrounding communities of each regular season away game for the Steelers.
