A New Hampshire State Police Trooper was injured Sunday night rescuing a driver who was trapped after his car crashed in Andover and later burst into flames, according to a statement from New Hampshire State Police.

Trooper Scott Frye was headed north on Interstate 93 in Andover with New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and his wife when they saw a car crash and catch on fire.

As Lynch called 911, a man believed to be an off-duty Manchester New Hampshire firefighter, whose name was not available, helped Frye as he climbed into the burning car to rescue the 62-year-old man trapped inside, according to Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio.
