The West Virginia State Police graduated 53 new troopers from its academy on Thursday, a day after a trooper was injured in a Randolph County shooting.

The West Virginia State Police graduated 53 new troopers from its academy on Thursday, a day after a trooper was injured in a Randolph County shooting, reports the State Journal.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, speaking at the commencement, congratulated the new troopers while expressing support for the family of the injured officer. "What happened yesterday in Randolph County is a terrible reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers face," Tomblin told the cadets.
