Shot S.C. Cop Released Gun Magazine During Struggle

A North Charleston (S.C.) Police sergeant was shot with his service pistol Wednesday morning, after struggling with a man who grabbed his gun from behind.

A North Charleston (S.C.) Police sergeant was shot with his service pistol Wednesday morning, after struggling with a man who grabbed his gun from behind.

The incident began around 5 a.m., when Sgt. Eddie Bullard got out of his patrol car next to Carpet Wholesalers at 6929 Rivers Ave. to investigate a report that someone had stolen the store's air-conditioning unit.

The suspect grabbed Sgt. Bullard's service weapon from behind. During the struggle, the officer was able to release the gun's magazine, reports ABC News. The officer's body armor stopped the round.
