2 Fla. Cops Injured In Gunfight at Mobile Home

The two officers responded to the home of Mark Clark, 55, on Saturday to serve an arrest warrant. Clark spoke with the officers and then retrieved a small-caliber firearm and opened fire.

A man who fired at two Palm Bay (Fla.) Police officers and barricaded himself in his mobile home eventually surrendered following a seven-hour standoff.

The two officers responded to the home of Mark Clark, 55, at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday to serve an arrest warrant. Clark spoke with the officers and then retrieved a small-caliber firearm and opened fire. Officer James Bearden was shot in the jaw and Officer James Carroll injured his elbow returning fire.

Clark went back into the home and initially refused to talk to police. He surrendered at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, reports Florida Today.

Clark has been charged with two counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer; along with aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault, reports WESH.
