Madison County (Ala.) Sheriff's Deputy Brent Beavers returned to work for light duty on Wednesday less than two months after he was shot by a robbery suspect.

Beavers was wounded on Nov. 28, as he attempted to stop Joseph Scott Shriver at the Super Stop on Moores Mill Road. Shriver allegedly got out of his car, kneeled, and fired an AK-47 rifle 12 to 15 times at the deputy's car. Beavers was shot in the face, but was able to reverse his vehicle and give dispatchers a good description of the vehicle.

Beavers was taken to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition and remained there for more than two weeks after surgery before being released, reports the Huntsville Times.
