East Haven (Conn.) Police Chief Len Gallo announced his retirement Monday, a week after the FBI arrested four of the agency's officers for allegedly violating the civil rights of Latinos, reports the Hartford Courant.

The head of the town's police commission has said he wants Chief Gallo fired to prevent him from collecting unused vacation and sick time that could total $100,000.

East Haven PD's Sgt. John Miller and Officers David Cari, Dennis Spaulding and Jason Zullo were arrested Jan. 24 and charged in a 10-count indictment for allegedly harassing, intimidating, and humiliating Latinos.
