Suburban Chicago police on Wednesday fatally shot a 15-year-old boy suffering from Asperger's syndrome after he allegedly threatened officers with a knife.

Danelene Powell-Watts, the mother of Stephon Watts, said she called police to their Calumet City home after the teenager became upset and did not want to go to school, reports the Chicago Tribune.

"The way they did it, they didn't have to shoot him," Powell-Watts said. In an interview with Fox News, Powell-Watts said officers should have used a TASER or shot her son in the arm or leg.
