New Orleans Officers Wounded In Gunfight, 1 Suspect Killed

Two New Orleans police officers were wounded early Thursday in a gunfight at a vehicle stop that left one suspect dead and a second wounded.

Two New Orleans police officers were wounded early Thursday in a gunfight at a vehicle stop that left one suspect dead and a second wounded.

The officers conducted a pro-active traffic stop at 5:30 a.m. of a vehicle near the intersection of North Bernadotte and Toulouse Street in the Mid-City district. Back-up officers arrived at 5:38 a.m., and shortly afterward, shots were exchanged.

Two officers were seriously injured after being struck in the torsos. They are now in stable condition, reports the Times-Picayune.

Justin Sipp, 19, was killed and his brother Earl Sipp, 21, was shot in the leg. Earl was driving Justin to work at a Burger King.
