Maryland Student Arrested for Online Death Threat

A 19-year-old student from the University of Maryland allegedly posted an online threat warning people to "stay away from the mall" because the student was planning to "kill enough people to make it to national news."

A 19-year-old student from the University of Maryland allegedly posted an online threat warning people to "stay away from the mall" because the student was planning to "kill enough people to make it to national news."

Alexander Song was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after being arrested Sunday, the Associated Press reports. The university is planning to suspend Song and has banned him from campus pending a review.

Song was charged with disturbing the orderly conduct of the activities, administration, or classes at the campus, a misdemeanor, reports the Baltimore Sun. Capt. Marc Limansky said that Song did not have access to a weapon.
