Santa Monica College campus police pepper-sprayed students during a Tuesday protest, as the students attempted to push their way into a trustees meeting.

Students were protesting the school's plan to offer high-priced courses, and only a few students were let into the meeting, reports CBS News. When their request to move the meeting to a larger venue was denied, they attempted to push their way into the room.

Police began using pepper spray after two officers were backed-up against a wall and another lost his balance. It was the first time pepper spray had been used against students on campus, according to Santa Monica College spokesman Bruce Smith.
