A North Carolina school resource officer's body armor absorbed the blade of an 8-inch knife a student stuck into the officer's back.

The Union Pines High School student, who has not been identified because of his age, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, possessing a weapon on school grounds, and damage to school property.

School Resource Officer Stephen Clark, 43, was attacked at the high school at 1981 Union Church Road in Cameron about 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday.
