A Metea Valley High School student must undergo a psychological evaluation after threatening to commit a 'Columbine-style' attack at the campus.

The 16-year-old allegedly texted several students at the school about his intentions, reports the Chicago Tribune. His classmates then reported the threats to a campus officer. The student was then taken to a local hospital Dec. 5.

Here's an excerpt of the recorded message Principal Jim Schmid sent to parents after the student was apprehended:

"I want to reassure you that the Aurora Police Department and school officials have … taken the necessary and appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We look forward to seeing you in the morning and please be assured that the safety of our students is always our top priority."
