NLEOMF Launches Holiday Heroes Campaign

National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund launches its Holiday Heroes campaign encouraging citizens to recognize law enforcement officers for their service and sacrifice.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) launched its fourth annual Holiday Heroes campaign to honor the nation's law enforcement officers during the holiday season.

The campaign is intended to remember officers who have died in the line of duty serving the community and recognize the brave men and women who continue to serve in law enforcement today, according to the group.

Citizens visiting the Holiday Heroes Website can honor law enforcement heroes by writing a tribute message and making a donation to the Memorial Fund, a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C.

The donations help the memorial fund continue its work to honor fallen law enforcement officers, research officer fatality trends and enhance officer safety, according to NLEOMF.

The tribute messages are viewable online and will be on display in the windows of the NLEOMF visitors center and store located at the corner of 7th and D streets, NW in D.C.

"Throughout the year, but especially during the holiday season, law enforcement officers are required to forgo time with their own families so the rest of us can safely spend time with ours. Tragically, some of our officers are injured or killed during this season of peace," said Craig W. Floyd, NLEOMF chairman. "Our Holiday Heroes program gives grateful citizens an opportunity to publicly express their appreciation and support for our officers—those who have fallen and those who continue to serve, putting their lives on the line for the safety and protection of others."
