VIDEO: Open Carry: One Cop's Professionalism

An Oceanside (Calif.) Police officer is being saluted by internet commentators for his professionalism and courtesy in dealing with an open-carry activist who videotaped the encounter.

The incident comes less than a week after an Ohio concealed-carry group posted a video of a traffic stop where Canton (Ohio) Police Officer Daniel Harless berated a legal permit holder, before arresting him.

Here's an excerpt from the CBS News blog The Feed:

Officer Matt Lyons with the Oceanside Police Department definitely deserves a shout out for this almost 3-minute encounter. Officer Lyons, we salute you, not only for your incredible professionalism, sense of humor, and great on camera demeanor, but also your dedicated 22 years of service in the United States Marine Corps.

In California, it is legal to carry a firearm as long as it is visible and unloaded.
