Wis. Deputy Fired Over Code 3 Fatal Crash

Sheriff Steve Helgeson fired Dep. Trisha Stratman following an internal investigation into a crash on July 18, 2010, where high school student Brandon Jennings was thrown from a vehicle.

A La Crosse County (Wis.) Sheriff's deputy facing felony homicide in a crash that caused the death of a 16-year-old has been fired, reports the La Crosse Tribune.

Sheriff Steve Helgeson fired Dep. Trisha Stratman following an internal investigation into a crash on July 18, 2010, where high school student Brandon Jennings was thrown from a vehicle.

Dep. Stratman allegedly sped through a red light at 90 mph and collided with another car at Hwys. 35 and OT. She was responding with lights and sirens activated to a call from another officer needing assistance with a rowdy crowd at a bar. An investigation showed the deputy may have been driving 106 mph and slowed to 90 mph before impact.
