Trooper Nelson was travelling west on Route 50 and took the access ramp to Shopping Center Drive in Stevensville. His destination was in the 100 block of North Lake Drive in that city.

Iraina Curtis, 29, apparently stepped down from a Jersey wall and into the path of Trooper Nelson's cruiser, according to Maryland State Police. She was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.
