A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer shot a robbery victim early Sunday during a scuffle involving an officer and suspect at a strip mall.

The incident began at 3:22 a.m., when Officer Joshua Skipper arrived at the east Charlotte mall and made contact with the victim and suspect's vehicle. When the suspect tried to run, the officer gave chase and began to handcuff the suspect.

The victim picked up the officer's back-up pistol, which had fallen to the ground, and pointed at one of the people accused of robbing him. Officer Prince Blue arrived at the scene and ordered the victim to drop the weapon. When he pointed the weapon at the officer, Officer Blue fired three times, striking the victim in the leg.
