Man Gets 7 Years In Armed Robbery of 86 Cents

During the robbery, Michael Armstrong's handgun went off, seriously injuring the man. As a result, the judge ordered the two to pay more than $65,000 in medical bills.

A New York man whose street-corner armed robbery netted him 86 cents received a 7-year sentence in state prison for the crime.

County Court Judge Stephen L. Greller imposed the sentence on Michael Armstrong, 22, on Wednesday. Armstrong, of Poughkeepsie, admitted last month that he and 18-year-old Devonte Burks accosted a man Aug. 21 in Poughkeepsie and demanded money.
