Police dash cam video helped exonerate a Monona (Wisc.) Police officer forced to use deadly force in December against a suspect who carjacked a man to force him to withdraw funds from a credit union ATM.

Dash-cam footage obtained by WISC-TV shows the deadly shooting involving the unnamed officer and Daniel L. Thomas, a 30-year-old Madison resident killed in the incident.

Thomas had kidnapped a 63-year-old man at gunpoint, drove him to the UW Credit Union in Monona to force him to withdraw funds from his account. A Monona officer fired five shots, striking Thomas as he attempted to reverse his truck out of the ATM bay.
