An eastern Tennessee police captain succumbed Monday to injuries he had sustained, while responding to a domestic disturbance call late last month.

Wartburg (Tenn.) Police Capt. Ralph Braden, 58, was injured April 22. He had responded to the Sunnyside Estate apartments. Braden was injured when he scuffled with Eddie Dean Patterson, 29, who tried to escape from a first-story window of his mother's apartment.

Braden had suffered life-threatening injuries. Patterson with later charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
