Shot Houston Officers Recovering from Downtown Shooting

Officer Fernando Meza, a two-year officer, was working an off-duty job at the station when he noticed a man with a weapon in his bag trying to buy a ticket. Officer Meza and Officer Timothy Moore, a 12-year veteran, both confronted and exchanged fire with the man, who had two guns.

The two Houston Police officers involved in a shooting near a Greyhound bus station in downtown on Saturday are recovering from the shooting that was caused by a suicidal subject.

Officer Fernando Meza, a two-year officer, was working an off-duty job at the station when he noticed a man with a weapon in his bag trying to buy a ticket. Officer Meza and Officer Timothy Moore, a 12-year veteran, both confronted and exchanged fire with the man, who had two guns.

Rounds from the man struck and wounded both officers. The man was later found dead, after exchanging fire with SWAT officers.
