Texas Border Chief Found Shot to Death

Chief Jose Del Angel, 44, was a 17-year veteran of the department that provides police services to the town located on the U.S.-Mexico border west of McAllen and southeast of Falcon Lake.

The police chief in the border town of La Joya, Texas, was found dead Thursday in vacant lot with fatal gunshot wounds.

Chief Jose Del Angel, 44, was a 17-year veteran of the department that provides police services to the town located on the U.S.-Mexico border west of McAllen and southeast of Falcon Lake.

The chief was found at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday inside his police vehicle that was parked in a vacant lot. Investigators say they're treating the case as a homicide.
