Reward for Los Angeles School Officer's Shooting Bumped to $100K

The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman who wounded a school police officer in Woodland Hills has been increased to $100,000 with a contribution from the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL).

The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman who wounded a school police officer in Woodland Hills has been increased to $100,000 with a contribution from the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL).

Officer Jeffrey Stenroos was shot once in the chest at about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, and his ballistic vest saved him from serious injury. Authorities have put out a composite sketch of the gunman.

"We are shocked by the attack on Officer Stenroos," according Paul M. Weber, league president. "By adding to the reward fund, we hope to send a message that an attack on any law enforcement officer in Los Angeles is an attack on the entire law enforcement community and will not be tolerated."

The Los Angeles City Council was expected to approve a $75,000 reward today for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who shot Stenroos. The LAPPL joined with the Los Angeles School Police Association and the Los Angeles Retired Fire and Police Association in adding $5,000 each, which, along with $9,999.99 from 99¢ Only Stores and 1 cent from Councilman Dennis Zine, brings the reward total to $100,000.
