Oakland Chief Doesn't Get San Jose Job

Popular Oakland Police chief Anthony Batts released a statement saying he didn't get the job and, at the same time, raised doubts about whether he'll stay to lead an Oakland force that has shrunk from 800 to 657 in a year.

Popular Oakland Police chief Anthony Batts won't be heading to San Jose, as that city has picked acting chief Chris Moore as its police chief, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Batts released a statement saying he didn't get the job and, at the same time, raised doubts about whether he'll stay to lead an Oakland force that has shrunk from 800 to 657 in a year.

Batts had released a statement earlier in the month saying he was one of two finalists for the post.
