Jurors returned a guilty verdict against the man who shot and killed a Delaware patrolman who had pulled him over more than year ago as a suspect in an earlier shooting.

Derrick Powell, 23, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of Georgetown (Del.) PD's Chad Spicer on Sept. 1, 2009. Powell could be sentenced to death during the sentencing phase, reports the Dover Post.

Powell fired a single shot from the rear of the vehicle at Officer Spicer. Ricochet bullet fragments that would prove fatal struck the officer in the face.
