Calif. Chief Joked About 'Taking All of Bell's Money'

In an e-mail exchange prior to taking his position, former Bell (Calif.) Police Chief Randy Adams referred to himself as a "pig" and joked that he looked forward to "taking all of Bell's money," referring to his exorbitant salary, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Adams, who was Glendale's chief at the time, exchanged the e-mails with Asst. Bell City Administrator Angela Spaccia, according to a 19-page filing by prosecutors on Monday.

Six current or former Bell City Council members, former City Administrator Robert Rizzo and Spaccia — collectively known as the Bell 8 — are now on trial for misappropriation of public funds.

Adams was paid more than $400,000 as chief, which exceeded the compensation of the Los Angeles Police chief and New York Police commissioner.
