Bad Taillight Leads To Fatal Gunfight In Florida

Jason A. Wilson, 29, was fatally shot in New Port Richey, after officers pulled over a vehicle with him riding in the back seat at 1:45 a.m. Wilson fired after a deputy yelled "gun."

Officers from two agencies traded gunfire with a man who fired from the rear seat of a two-door Honda Civic, fatally shooting the suspect during a vehicle stop, reports the Tampa Tribune.

Wilson, 29, was fatally shot in New Port Richey, after officers pulled over a vehicle with him riding in the back seat at 1:45 a.m. Officers with the New Port Richey PD and deputies with the Pasco County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office were at the scene. Wilson fired after a deputy yelled "gun." Three of the vehicle's four occupants exited the vehicle, after asked to do so by officers.

Wilson spent three years in prison and has a criminal record dating back to 1999.
