A U.S. park ranger was on official travel status, when she was killed in a wintry head-on collision with a semi-truck while driving in Nebraska, reports the Officer Down Memorial Page.

Weir, 39, was relocating from her position at Independence National Historic Park in Philadelphia to a field training assignment at Yosemite National Park in California.

She lost control of her Toyota pickup truck on Interstate 80 about four miles west of Kearney, Neb., reports Omaha.com.
