A heavily armed Louisiana man opened fire in his local sheriff's office, wounding a deputy before he was wounded by returned fire from other deputies.

John W. Futrell, 52, of Colfax entered the Grant Parish Sheriff's Office's Criminal Investigative Division shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, reports The Town Talk.

Futrell was armed with a rifle, handgun, and knife, as well as extra magazines of ammunition for each firearm. Dep. Barkley Roberts was shot once in the chest and received medical treatment.
