Ambushed Detroit Officer 'Never Had a Chance'

Jason Gibson, 26, then allegedly fired three .45-caliber rounds from inside the home at Officer Huff — two struck and killed the officer who "never had a chance," Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Thomas Trzcinski told jurors Wednesday.

Detroit Police Officer Brian Huff stepped onto the front porch of an Eastern District home on May 3, yelled "Police," and began to push the front door open with his foot. As he began to step inside the residence, he held his flashlight in hand and his service weapon remained in its holster.

Gibson's trial began Wednesday, reports the Detroit News.
