National Latino Officers Host Training on Patron Drug Saints

Robert Almonte, a U.S. Marshal in western Texas, is leading the event, which will cover how drug and human smugglers pervert Catholic saints and icons in their trade. The course seeks to educate officers about the images, icons, statues and other items seized during these investigations.

The National Latino Peace Officers Association is hosting "Patron Saints of the Mexican Drug Underworld," a law enforcement training symposium scheduled for May 17.

Robert Almonte, a U.S. Marshal in western Texas, is leading the event, which will cover how drug and human smugglers pervert Catholic saints and icons in their trade. The course seeks to educate officers about the images, icons, statues and other items seized during these investigations.

Other areas of coverage include occult shrines, objects of worship, power beliefs and behaviors, gang symbols and icons, affiliations and tattoos, beheadings and murder, border violence, kidnapping and narco terrorism.

The training runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pacific Palms Resort, One Industry Hills Parkway, City of Industry, Calif. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. For more information or to sign up, visit the NLPOA Web site.
